The weekly prompt from Read Write Poem was to choose a vowel and play with it until you got a poem. Here is what I got.
Ode to U
You
are the open cup
of language.
In your
crucible,
you
transform
one word
into another.
What would
house be
without you?
Or suit,
or lieu,
or you?
You
make
sense
of Q.
You
are the sound
we turn to
when we are
unsure,
dumbfounded,
bemused.
You
are the hum
of unencumbered
contentment.
Happiness
bubbles up
from your lip.

I love it from the open cup to the hum of unencumbered contentment. It makes me feel good.
Love this!
“In your
crucible,
you
transform
one word
into another.”
your yellow shirt contrasts with the pillar
This was very comforting and a nice rhythmic read!
I love this! Especially “you make sense of q.” it’s so simple and it’s so true.
“you make sense of Q” is my favorite stanza this week. love it!
nicely done for sure….ode to me?….that is a first…and Im late also
Happiness bubbles up from your lip is my favorite line. Puts a smile on one’s face. Hope all is well. Have a great day.
I like the idea of U as a cup, a crucible. This poem seems to wrap a pair of hands gently around that cup, and at the end I want to sip from that lip.
I never though about writing an homage to the sound itself — very clever. Great work!
